Gun Layaway in Clarksville, Tennessee

Reserve the firearm you want today and pay it off over 90 days. Twenty percent down holds it — no credit check, no interest, no application. Every layaway starts online from your own account, so you can put a gun on layaway from your couch at midnight without talking to anybody. Please read the full terms below before you begin so there are no surprises.

What Qualifies
  • $300 minimum purchase price.
  • New and used firearms both qualify, along with any other in-stock item that meets the $300 minimum.
  • NFA / Class III items (suppressors, SBRs, SBSs) are eligible for Tennessee residents, with in-store pickup only. Your ATF Form 4 is submitted after the layaway is paid off, not before — approval of a Form 4 is the transfer itself, so the item becomes yours the day it's approved. That's also why it can't be shipped to a dealer in another state: an approved Form 4 hands the item to you here at our counter, with no receiving dealer in between. Plan on the ATF wait beginning at payoff.
  • Your item is reserved the moment your deposit clears and pulled from available inventory.
Costs & Payments

Layaway Fee$30Non-refundable — one-time, per layaway

You may make additional payments at any time during the 90-day term — online or in store. There's no fixed payment schedule; the only requirement is that your balance is paid in full within 90 days of your deposit date.

Cancellation & Forfeiture
Your 20% deposit and $30 layaway fee are non-refundable for any reason. Anything you pay beyond the deposit and fee is refunded to you. Please read this section in full before you commit.
  • If you cancel for any reason, the 20% deposit and the $30 fee are not refunded.
  • If the balance is not paid in full within 90 days, the layaway is automatically cancelled and the deposit and fee are forfeited.
  • Payments above the deposit and fee come back to you. On a cancelled or expired layaway we refund everything you paid over that amount, to the original card or by check or cash. We do not keep it and we do not convert it to store credit.
  • If we can't get the item — a distributor cancels the order or it's discontinued — you get a full refund, including the deposit and the fee. The forfeiture rules only apply when the layaway ends on your side.
  • A cancelled or expired layaway returns the item to our inventory for sale.
An example. On a $1,000 rifle, your deposit is $200 and the fee is $30. Say you pay another $400 over the next two months and then cancel. You've paid $630. You forfeit the $230 deposit and fee, and we refund you the remaining $400.
State & Local Laws Are Your Responsibility

You are responsible for confirming the firearm is legal to own in your state, county, and city before you place it on layaway. We do not verify state or local restrictions on your behalf.

If you discover after placing the layaway that the firearm cannot be transferred to you because of state or local law, the deposit and fee are still non-refundable — though, as above, anything you paid beyond them is refunded. Please research before you commit.

Item Changes

Once your deposit is placed, the items on your layaway cannot be changed. You can cancel (and forfeit the deposit and fee), but you cannot swap one firearm for another.

Pickup or Shipping

When your balance is paid in full, your firearm will be:

  • Available for in-store pickup at our Clarksville location, or
  • Shipped to your chosen FFL dealer — you provide the FFL's name and phone number and we contact them directly.

Standard transfer rules apply: an ATF Form 4473 and a background check are required wherever you take possession — here in Tennessee if you collect in store, or at your own FFL under your state's rules if we ship. Your firearm cannot be released if you are unable to pass the background check. See our FFL Transfers page for details.

NFA / Class III items are limited to Tennessee residents and are in-store pickup only. They cannot be shipped to another dealer, and the ATF Form 4 is not submitted until the layaway is paid off. See our NFA & Suppressors page for how the Form 4 process works.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to pay it off?
90 days from the date your deposit clears. You can pay it off sooner, and you can make payments any time during the term — there's no fixed schedule, just the 90-day deadline.
What does it cost to start?
A 20% deposit on the item plus a one-time $30 layaway fee. Tennessee sales tax (9.5%) applies to the item and the fee.
Is my deposit refundable?
No. The 20% deposit and the $30 fee are non-refundable for any reason — including a change of mind, a failed background check, or state-law restrictions. Anything you pay beyond the deposit and the fee is refunded to you if the layaway is cancelled.
If I cancel, do I lose everything I've paid?
No. You forfeit the 20% deposit and the $30 fee. Every dollar you paid above that comes back to you — refunded to the original card, or by check or cash. On a $1,000 rifle where you'd paid $630, you would forfeit $230 and get $400 back.
What can I put on layaway?
Any in-stock item priced at $300 or more. New firearms, used firearms, and NFA / Class III items all qualify. NFA items are limited to Tennessee residents and are in-store pickup only.
Can I put a used gun on layaway?
Yes. Used firearms qualify the same as new ones, as long as the price is $300 or more.
Can I put a suppressor on layaway?
Yes, if you're a Tennessee resident. Suppressors, SBRs, and SBSs can go on layaway with in-store pickup only. The ATF Form 4 is submitted after the layaway is paid off, never while it's open — a Form 4 approval is the transfer, so the item becomes yours the moment ATF approves it, and we can't register it to you before it's paid for. Plan on the ATF wait starting at payoff.
Do I have to come into the store to start a layaway?
No, and that's the point — every layaway is started online from your account, so you can do the whole thing from home at whatever hour suits you. Sign in or create an account, pick your item, put 20% down, and it's held. If you'd rather do it here, you're welcome to use one of our computers or tablets, or your own phone at the counter, and we'll stand there with you.
Do you run a credit check?
No. Layaway is not financing — there's no credit check, no application, and no interest. You're simply paying for the item over time before you take it home.
Can I change the item after I start?
No. Once your deposit is placed the item is locked in. You'd have to cancel (forfeiting your deposit and fee) and start a new layaway.
Can I make payments online?
Yes — you can make additional payments online or in store any time during the 90-day term. A 3% surcharge applies to card payments; there's no surcharge if you pay cash in store.
Can I use layaway for a Christmas gift?
That's what the 90-day term is built for. A layaway started in late September or October is paid off well before Christmas. Remember that the person receiving a firearm still has to complete a Form 4473 and pass a background check themselves — so plan the handoff, and talk to us if you're unsure how to do it correctly.
What happens when it's paid off?
Pick it up in store, or we'll ship it to your local FFL. Either way, a Form 4473 and a background check are completed where you take possession. NFA items are pickup only.
Ready to Reserve Yours?
Layaways are started online from your account — from home, or on one of our computers if you'd rather do it here.
